We are still looking into a few locations to open up in the spring of 2019. Nothing has been confirmed yet so we don't want to share anything just yet.
Thank you all for your kind words and we will keep you posted as soon as we have signed a new lease.
Underground Printing reached out to us and will be doing a t-shirt fundraising campaign with MD Bagel Fragel. In additional to the GoFundMe, customers can purchase a #SaveBagelFragel t-shirt for $20 with proceeds going towards relocation costs. T-shirt orders can be placed until Monday 12/03 at Midnight EST so that customers can get their shirts in time for the store closing on Thursday December 20th. Customers who wear their t-shirts into MD Bagel Fragel on Thursday December 20th can enjoy a free fragel as a "thank you!"
Evan Mitchell of Underground Printing reached out to us when he heard the news. "Bagel Fragel has been my go-to bagel spot ever since living on North Campus during my freshman year at Michigan. It was a game-day tradition for my group of friends to get bagels before every home football game! When I heard about the situation Patricia was facing, my immediate thought was to coordinate a t-shirt fundraiser to help spread the word and raise money for their new location."
We are still in awe of how the community has rallied around them. Customers have been sharing some of the supportive comments and posts from social media since neither of us are on social media. Simply amazing.
Thanksgiving is a time people always talk about what they are thankful for. At Bagel Fragel, we are thankful for being a part of such a great place like Ann Arbor. The overwhelming response and support from everyone has been heartwarming. However this plays out, at least everyone will know how great the people of Ann Arbor are. Thank you all!
Today is a bittersweet day for us. One month from today, we will be permanently closing our doors at this location. We are grateful that with your support, we have this extra month to figure things out. We hope to have good news to share before Thursday December 20th. Either way, we will be going out with a big celebration at the store.

To our customers who are buying and ordering dozens of bagels to freeze...thank you.
To customers who are coming in for the first time to try a Fragel...thank you.
To the people who are generously donating to help us move...thank you.
To Meredith Bruckner who first shared our story and continues to share our story...thank you.
To Lauren Slagter who has been sharing our story through MLive....thank you.
We are so grateful. Our customers started a GoFundMe campaign to help us raise some of the money needed for the move. Through friends and family we can come up with some but are still short $40,000. If you would like to help, please see the link.

On Oct. 29th, 2018, we received a FedExed letter from the lawyer of the new owners of our building that we had 2 days to move out. After some discussion with their lawyer, they gave us one additional month at triple the rent and gave us until Nov. 30th. After a long time customer Meredith Bruckner shared our story, End of the fragel? Ann Arbor's MD Bagel Fragel given short notice to close shop, we received an outpouring of support. We are so grateful and humbled by your emails, calls, visits and support on social media. Due to your support (Amid community uproar, MD Bagel Fragel gets extension to stay open until Dec. 30) were able to get our lease extended until December 30th. While we are still paying triple the rent, we now have a little more time and will not be closing our doors on the Wed. before Thanksgiving. We are working with the community members who have offered to start a GoFundMe campaign to help us raise $40,000 to help pay for the build out for our new location. We are currently in discussions with a property owner on the Northeast Side of Ann Arbor but no decisions have been made as of today. Once the GoFundMe has been launched and when we have any updates, we will share on this page. Thank you so much Ann Arbor for your heart.
